Alan Parfett, President

As the founder of A.G. Parfetts, Alan was originally the guiding force behind the company on its inception in July, 1980. Prior to this, he was the Chief Executive of wholesalers Lonsdale & Thompson and had been involved in the food industry since 1945.

Alan decided to put this experience to good use by setting up Parfetts in a 25,000 sq ft warehouse, previously owned by Snowdon & Bridge in the Reddish area of Stockport. Right from the start, the company was very much a family concern with wife Pat and eldest son Steve involved in the day-to-day running of the depot. This approach quickly paid dividends, as the company quickly expanded with the opening of the Aintree and Anfield branches.

Since then, change has continued and although on his retirement, Alan handed over the mantle of Managing Director to Steve in 1989, before becoming Chairman and latterly President, he still maintains an active role in the future direction of the company. He has also held a number of other positions including Chairman of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors and director of the Landmark Group, making him one of the most recognised figures in the industry.


Steve Parfett, Chairman

Steve has been involved in A.G. Parfetts right from day one, helping to get the business off the ground with his unwavering commitment. Following his appointment to the position of Managing Director in 1989, with the support of his brother and fellow-director Robert, he set about meeting his father's challenge to mark the company's 10th year in business by achieving £100m sales. Not only did they achieve this, they also went on to double this amount to celebrate Parfett's 20th anniversary and recently further progressed to achieve £300m in the 30th year of trading.

These highly impressive figures have been accomplished by sensible expansion of the business at intervals, most recently with the development of a state of the art Cash & Carry on a "Greenfield" site in Sheffield.

Like his father before him, Steve has taken on a wider role in the industry, taking up the Chairmanship of the Landmark Group and also becoming Chairman of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors. On 1st January 2011 Steve became Executive Chairman of the group with the appointment of David Grimes, previously Finance Director to be the new Managing Director.


Robert Parfett, Director

Robert quickly became an integral part of the family business, following his graduation from university in 1981. His many and varied roles included shop floor supervision, company accounts and responsibility for both the non-licensed and fresh food operations.

A directorship soon followed and, since Steve's appointment as Managing Director, Robert has played a vital part in helping to run the whole operation. Their success in this can be measured by the fact that one year later, they won the FWD Young Wholesalers award.

Robert has carried on expanding and enhancing his role in the company and is now responsible for personnel, staff development and IT.


David Grimes, Managing Director

David made the position of Finance Director his own after taking over from Robert Miller in 2006, and as a result of this was asked by the Board to accept the position of Managing Director in 2011

This is the culmination of a long and successful career at Parfetts, firstly as Company Accountant and then as Deputy General Manager of the Sheffield depot as part of the team who handled its opening - a role for which he received an FWD Gold Medal.


Greg Suszczenia, Trading Director

Greg has a wealth of experience across all aspects of the business, having started as a junior buyer, progressing to managing Parfetts' Halifax depot, before briefly leaving the company to start up his own independent retail stores. He returned to Parfetts in 2008 as a member of the Head Office trading team, before taking over from the retiring Bill Pace as Trading Director on 1st January 2010.
